A good new any now and then. The spearfishing licensing system in Greece has been totally changed this year. Before, boat licensing for recreational fishing or spearfishing could be obtained only if the vessel was under the Greek flag, and even individual licenses (no boat) were sometimes difficult to obtain, as some Port Police stations were asking for a Greek tax number. Now the licenses have been turned down, and one can go and practice recreational fishing without all those limitations. Of course, all the other rules are still there, so don't forget to check them, to limit your catch to what's reasonable and ethic, and respect the place where you are. I love Greece, and I am very happy I can add it back to my favorite fishing itineraries list.
